Reformacyjny

Reformacyjny is a Polish adjective meaning related to reform, and more specifically to the Reformation. In religious contexts it designates things connected with the Protestant Reformation of the 16th century and its legacy, including theology, churches, movements, and practices that arose from or were influenced by that reforming impulse. In Polish discourse the term often signals a link to reformist traditions within Christianity, such as the Reformed churches and Reformed theology, though usage can be broader and apply to reform efforts in other areas as well.

Origin and usage: The word is formed from the noun reform, via the suffix -acyjny, which yields adjectives meaning “pertaining to” or “characteristic of.” Common collocations include teologia reformacyjna (reformational theology), ruch reformacyjny (Reformation movement), kościoły reformacyjne (Reformed churches), and tradycja reformacyjna (Reformation tradition). Notes: In Polish, reformacyjny tends to carry historical and ecclesial connotations connected with the Reformation era, although it can be used more broadly to denote reform-minded approaches in various domains.
