Rautasydänmateriaalia is a Finnish term that translates to "iron core material" or "ferromagnetic material" in English. It refers to a class of substances that are strongly attracted to magnets and can be magnetized themselves. These materials are characterized by their high magnetic permeability, meaning they can easily concentrate magnetic flux lines.

The most common and well-known rautasydänmateriaalia is iron itself. However, the term also encompasses other ferromagnetic elements like nickel and cobalt, as well as their alloys. Alloys like steel, particularly those with specific compositions, are widely used for their magnetic properties.
