Ratar is a town and civil parish in the central highlands of a fictional nation called Eldara. Located on the lower slopes of the Lomar Range near the River Nyll, it serves as a local commercial and cultural hub for surrounding villages. The name Ratar is believed to derive from the Ratan language, meaning “watchful hill,” though exact etymology is uncertain.

The landscape is a mix of woodland hills, pastures, and small farms, with a temperate climate that features mild summers and cool, damp winters. Ratar’s recorded history begins in the 12th century as an agricultural settlement, expanding in the 15th century with mining nearby and later diversifying into timber and crafts.
