Randverzeichnungen
Randverzeichnungen are a phenomenon observed in certain types of digital displays, particularly those employing cathode ray tube (CRT) technology. This effect refers to subtle distortions or irregularities that appear at the extreme edges or borders of the displayed image. These distortions can manifest in various ways, such as slight warping of straight lines, color fringing, or a reduction in image sharpness. The precise nature and severity of randverzeichnungen depend on factors like the design of the display's electron beam deflection system and the quality of the components used. While often minor and not significantly impacting the central viewing area, they can be noticeable to discerning viewers. In some cases, adjustments to the display's geometry settings can help mitigate these edge distortions. With the widespread adoption of flat-panel display technologies like LCD and OLED, randverzeichnungen have become less common, as these newer technologies do not rely on electron beam deflection in the same manner as CRTs.
