Radiatoruppvärmning, commonly referred to as radiator heating, is a prevalent method of central heating found in many homes and buildings. This system utilizes radiators to distribute heat throughout a space. The core components of a radiator heating system include a boiler, a network of pipes, and the radiators themselves.

The boiler, typically fueled by gas, oil, or electricity, heats water. This heated water is then circulated through the piping system to the radiators located in various rooms. As the hot water flows through the radiators, it transfers its thermal energy to the surrounding air. This warmed air then rises and circulates within the room, creating a comfortable ambient temperature.

Radiators are designed to maximize heat transfer. They are usually made of metal, such as cast iron or steel, and often feature fins or a corrugated surface to increase their surface area, thereby enhancing their ability to radiate heat into the room. The term "radiator" itself refers to this process of emitting heat through radiation, though convection also plays a significant role in distributing the heat within the room.

The temperature within the system is controlled by a thermostat, which monitors the room temperature and signals the boiler to activate or deactivate as needed to maintain the desired setting. Radiator heating systems are generally considered reliable and efficient, providing a consistent and comfortable heat source.
