Radiaatorküte

Radiaatorküte, also known as radiator heating, is a common method of central heating used in buildings. It relies on a boiler to heat water, which is then circulated through a closed system of pipes to radiators located in different rooms. The radiators are typically made of metal and have a large surface area, allowing them to efficiently transfer heat to the surrounding air through convection and radiation. As the hot water flows through the radiator, it heats the metal fins, which in turn warm the air that comes into contact with them. This warm air then rises and circulates throughout the room, creating a comfortable ambient temperature.

The system typically includes a boiler, a pump to circulate the water, radiators, and a network of pipes connecting these components. The boiler can be powered by various energy sources, such as natural gas, oil, electricity, or even renewable sources like biomass. Thermostats are often used to control the system, allowing occupants to set and maintain desired room temperatures. When the temperature drops below the set point, the thermostat signals the boiler to turn on and heat the water. Once the desired temperature is reached, the thermostat signals the boiler to shut off, conserving energy.

The efficiency of radiaatorküte systems can vary depending on factors such as the age and design of the boiler, the insulation of the building, and the proper sizing and placement of the radiators. Modern systems often incorporate energy-saving features like condensing boilers, which can reclaim heat from flue gases, and smart thermostats that can be programmed for optimal energy use. While electric radiators exist, they are generally less efficient for whole-house heating compared to hydronic systems that use a central boiler.
