RTMPa
RTMPa is a term that appears in some streaming contexts to denote a variant or extension of the Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP). Unlike official RTMP, RTMPa is not defined by a formal standard and there is no universally recognized specification. In practice, RTMPa often refers to a vendor-specific extension that adds authentication and potentially encrypted transport to RTMP sessions while attempting to preserve RTMP’s low-latency characteristics.
Technical overview: RTMP originally operates over TCP with a handshake, chunking, and a set of message types
Adoption and interoperability: RTMPa has limited adoption and is often confined to particular platforms or legacy
