RSVPbased
RSVPbased refers to systems, services, or networks that rely on the Resource Reservation Protocol (RSVP) to request and reserve network resources for data flows, typically in support of Integrated Services (IntServ). RSVP is a signaling protocol developed by the IETF to establish per-flow quality of service on IP networks. It operates with PATH messages sent from the sender toward the receiver and RESV messages sent back along the same route, carrying parameters such as requested bandwidth and QoS class. Routers maintain soft state for each active reservation and require periodic refresh messages to keep reservations alive. The result is end-to-end admission control and resource provisioning along the path, enabling more predictable performance for sensitive traffic such as voice or video.
RSVP-based QoS can be used in IP networks to offer fine-grained, per-flow guarantees. In MPLS networks, RSVP-TE
