RNFT2

RNFT2, also known as RING finger and FYVE domain-containing protein 2, is a protein encoded by the RNFT2 gene in humans. This gene is located on chromosome 19. The protein it produces contains a RING finger domain, which is a cysteine-rich motif often found in ubiquitin ligases, and a FYVE domain, which is a zinc finger domain that specifically binds to phosphatidylinositol 3-phosphate (PI3P).

RNFT2 is believed to play a role in cellular processes involving membrane trafficking and signal transduction. Its FYVE domain suggests an involvement in endosomal sorting or autophagy, as PI3P is a key lipid marker for these compartments. The RING finger domain implies a potential function in the ubiquitin-proteasome system, either as part of an E3 ubiquitin ligase complex or through other regulatory mechanisms.

Research on RNFT2 is ongoing, and its precise functions and interactions within the cell are still being elucidated.
