RNAsäätelyn, or RNA regulation, is a fundamental biological process that controls gene expression at the RNA level. This regulation can occur at multiple stages of the RNA lifecycle, including transcription, RNA processing, RNA transport, translation, and RNA degradation. By precisely controlling which RNAs are produced, how they are modified, where they are located, and how efficiently they are translated into proteins, cells can fine-tune the amounts and types of proteins present.

Key mechanisms of RNA regulation include the action of non-coding RNAs such as microRNAs (miRNAs) and small interfering RNAs (siRNAs). These small RNAs can bind to complementary messenger RNA (mRNA) sequences, leading to mRNA degradation or inhibition of translation. Other regulatory elements include RNA-binding proteins (RBPs), which can interact with specific RNA sequences or structures to influence RNA stability, localization, and translation.
