RGBvärv

RGBvärv, also known as the RGB color model, is an additive color model in which red, green, and blue light are combined in various ways to reproduce a broad array of colors. The primary purpose of the RGB color model is to display images on electronic devices such as computer monitors, televisions, and smartphones. Each of the three primary colors, red, green, and blue, is represented by a value indicating its intensity. Typically, these values range from 0 to 255, where 0 means no color is present and 255 means the color is at its full intensity.

When all three color components are at their maximum intensity (255, 255, 255), white light is produced. Conversely, when all three components are at their minimum intensity (0, 0, 0), black is produced. By varying the intensities of red, green, and blue light, a vast spectrum of colors can be created. For instance, mixing equal amounts of red and green light at full intensity results in yellow. Red and blue at full intensity produce magenta, and green and blue at full intensity produce cyan.

The RGB color model is widely used in digital imaging, web design, and video production because it directly corresponds to how displays emit light. The human eye's photoreceptor cells, the cones, are sensitive to these three primary colors, allowing screens to simulate a wide range of perceivable colors by stimulating these cones in different proportions. While effective for displays, RGB is not ideal for print media, which typically uses a subtractive color model like CMYK.
