RGBjärjestelmässä, often referred to as the RGB color model, is an additive color system where red, green, and blue light are combined in various ways to reproduce a broad spectrum of colors. It is primarily used for displays and electronic devices that emit light, such as computer monitors, televisions, scanners, and digital cameras. The system works by illuminating pixels with different intensities of red, green, and blue light. When these lights are mixed, they create other colors. For instance, mixing red and green light at full intensity produces yellow. Mixing red and blue creates magenta, and mixing green and blue results in cyan. When all three primary colors are combined at their maximum intensity, they produce white light. Conversely, the absence of any light results in black.

Each color component in an RGB system is typically represented by a numerical value, often ranging from 0 to 255. A value of 0 for a particular color means that light is not emitted, while a value of 255 indicates maximum intensity. Therefore, a pure red would be represented as (255, 0, 0), pure green as (0, 255, 0), and pure blue as (0, 0, 255). White is represented as (255, 255, 255), and black as (0, 0, 0). This system allows for the display of millions of different colors by combining these three primary colors in varying proportions. The accuracy and range of colors displayed depend on the capabilities of the specific device and the color depth of the system.
