RAMSIs
RAMSI stands for the Regional Assistance Mission to the Solomon Islands. It was a multinational policing and military intervention led by Australia and New Zealand. The mission officially commenced on July 29, 2003, in response to a request from the Solomon Islands government for assistance in restoring law and order. The country had been experiencing significant social unrest, ethnic tension, and a breakdown of governance, particularly on the island of Guadalcanal. RAMSI's primary objective was to restore security, rebuild the police force, and support the government in re-establishing its authority and delivering essential services.
