RAIDtükörözés, often referred to as RAID 1, is a data storage configuration that duplicates every unit of data onto a second disk drive in an identical manner. This process is also known as mirroring. The primary purpose of RAID 1 is to provide data redundancy. If one of the disk drives fails, the data is still accessible from the mirrored drive. This significantly improves fault tolerance compared to non-RAID configurations or other RAID levels that focus on performance.

In a RAID 1 setup, two drives are used to store the same data. When data is written, it is written to both drives simultaneously. When data is read, it can be read from either drive. The system will typically read from the drive that responds fastest. This can sometimes offer a slight performance improvement for read operations, although it is not the primary benefit.

The main advantage of RAID 1 is its simplicity and the high level of data protection it offers. If one drive fails, the system can continue to operate without interruption using the remaining drive. The failed drive can then be replaced, and the data from the working drive can be mirrored onto the new drive to restore the redundancy. The downside is that RAID 1 requires twice the storage capacity of the data being stored, as each piece of data is duplicated. This makes it less space-efficient than other RAID levels like RAID 0 or RAID 5. RAID 1 is commonly used for critical data where reliability is paramount, such as operating system drives or sensitive databases.
