Qurum

Qurum, also spelled Al Qurum, is a district and coastal suburb of Muscat, the capital of Oman. Located along the Gulf of Oman, it forms part of the Muscat Governorate and is one of the city’s principal residential and commercial areas. The coastline along Qurum Beach is a defining feature, popular for walking, swimming and waterfront recreation.

Within Qurum lies Shatti Al Qurum, a busy district known for hotels, embassies, shops and restaurants. The Royal Opera House Muscat, a major cultural venue, is located in this area. The district also hosts shopping centers such as City Centre Qurum, and several hotels and residential compounds that accommodate locals and expatriates.

Development in Qurum accelerated during the late 20th and early 21st centuries as Muscat expanded. The area combines upscale housing with commercial facilities, government offices and services that serve the wider capital region.

Qurum is connected to the rest of Muscat by major roads and public transport links, providing access to the city center, business districts and coastal attractions. Its mix of amenities and coastal setting has made it one of the more prominent districts in Muscat.
