Quinolin4ylmethyl

Quinolin-4-ylmethyl is a chemical substituent derived from quinoline in which a methylene group links to the ring at the 4-position. In that form the substituent is often written as quinolin-4-ylmethyl or (quinolin-4-yl)methyl and is used as a building block in organic synthesis and medicinal chemistry to connect quinoline to other molecular fragments.

Quinoline is a fused bicyclic aromatic heterocycle consisting of a benzene ring fused to a pyridine ring, with a nitrogen atom at position 1. The 4-position lies on the pyridine portion.
