QTLe

QTLe, which stands for Quantitative Trait Linkage Exclusion, is a statistical method used in genetics to help identify the chromosomal regions that are likely to harbor genes influencing quantitative traits. Quantitative traits are those that vary along a continuum, such as height, weight, or milk production in livestock. These traits are typically influenced by multiple genes (polygenic inheritance) and environmental factors.

The QTLe method works by leveraging linkage disequilibrium within a population. Linkage disequilibrium refers to the non-random association of alleles at different loci. By examining the patterns of allele sharing among individuals with extreme trait values, QTLe can pinpoint regions of the genome that are significantly more likely to contain quantitative trait loci (QTLs).
