Päävaluuttapareihin, known in English as major currency pairs, are the most frequently traded currency combinations in the foreign exchange market. They involve the US dollar paired with another major global currency. The most prominent of these are EUR/USD, USD/JPY, GBP/USD, USD/CHF, AUD/USD, USD/CAD, and NZD/USD. These pairs represent the highest trading volumes and liquidity, meaning they are generally easier to buy and sell without significant price impact. Their widespread trading activity makes their prices more stable and their spreads, the difference between the buy and sell price, typically tighter than those of minor or exotic currency pairs.
