Päästöjenpuhdistin, also known as an exhaust gas cleaning system or scrubber, is a device designed to remove pollutants from exhaust gases before they are released into the atmosphere. These systems are commonly used in industrial applications, such as power plants and ships, as well as in vehicles. The primary goal of a päästöjenpuhdistin is to reduce harmful emissions like sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), particulate matter, and carbon dioxide (CO2), thereby mitigating air pollution and its environmental and health impacts.
