Pytalovos

Pytalovos is a settlement located in the Pytalovsky District of Pskov Oblast, Russia. It is situated in the western part of the oblast, close to the border with Latvia. The town is built on the banks of the River Udra. Pytalovos holds the status of a town and is the administrative center of the Pytalovsky District.

Historically, the area that is now Pytalovos was part of the Livonian Confederation. The settlement's development is closely linked to the construction of the Moscow-Vindava Railway, which passed through the area in the early 20th century. A station was established here, and a settlement grew around it. It was officially granted town status in 1919.

The economy of Pytalovos is primarily based on agriculture and small-scale industry. Its location near the border has also influenced its role as a transit point. The town has a local museum that documents the history and culture of the region. Pytalovos experiences a temperate continental climate, with cold winters and warm summers. The surrounding landscape is characterized by forests and agricultural land.
