Pysäytysruuvi

Pysäytysruuvi is a Finnish term that translates to "stop screw" or "set screw" in English. It refers to a type of screw that is used to prevent other components from moving relative to each other. Unlike a typical screw that fastens two parts together by creating a permanent joint, a pysäytysruuvi is designed to be tightened against another surface, thereby creating friction and resisting movement.

These screws are often headless and are inserted into a threaded hole in one component. The other component has a corresponding surface, which can be a flat, a keyway, or a cylindrical surface. When the pysäytysruuvi is tightened, its end presses against this surface, locking the two parts in position. This is particularly useful in applications where precise positioning is required or where vibrations might otherwise cause components to shift.

Common applications for pysäytysruuvit include securing a pulley or gear onto a shaft, preventing a knob from slipping on a control rod, or fixing a component in a specific orientation.
