Pyramidens

Pyramidens is a term used in speculative archaeology and world-building to describe a family of monumental pyramidal monuments and the societies that built them. It covers the structures and the ceremonial and administrative complexes around them.

Architectural characteristics: Pyramidens typically have stone cores faced with dressed blocks. Bases are square or rectangular; outer shapes range from stepped pyramids to smooth-sided forms. Many include a chamber near the summit connected by passageways. Ramps and organized construction are common. Some show alignments to solar or stellar events.

Distribution and chronology: In hypothetical reconstructions, Pyramidens appear in several regions. Chronologies vary by setting but often place principal phases from the late second millennium BCE to early centuries CE.

Cultural role: Pyramids serve ceremonial, political, and burial functions. Surrounding precincts may include temples, courtyards, and processional ways. Iconography often emphasizes solar imagery and kingship.

Scholarship and reception: In fictional or hypothetical studies, debates focus on construction techniques, social organization, and cross-cultural connections.
