Puristusjännitystä

Puristusjännitys, often translated as compressive stress, is a fundamental concept in physics and engineering describing the internal forces within a material that resist deformation caused by external forces pushing inwards. When a material is subjected to compression, its particles are squeezed closer together. This inward force creates internal stresses that act to oppose the compression.

Imagine a column supporting a heavy weight. The weight pushes down on the column, attempting to shorten it.
