Punneväkälaitteet, also known as pressure gauges or manometers, are instruments used to measure the pressure of a fluid, whether it be a liquid or a gas. They operate on various principles, with some of the most common types including Bourdon tube gauges, diaphragm gauges, and U-tube manometers.

Bourdon tube gauges utilize a curved, flattened tube that tends to straighten when pressure is applied internally. This straightening motion is then translated into a needle movement on a calibrated dial, indicating the pressure. Diaphragm gauges employ a flexible diaphragm that deforms under pressure, and this deformation is linked to a pointer. U-tube manometers, often used for differential pressure measurements, rely on the principle of hydrostatic pressure where the difference in liquid levels in the two arms of a U-shaped tube directly corresponds to the pressure difference.
