Punapistetähtäimiä

Punapistetähtäimiä, also known as red dot sights, are non-magnifying optical sights used primarily for aiming firearms. They project a bright red dot or a small reticle onto a lens, which the shooter sees superimposed over the target. The advantage of a red dot sight is that it allows for very quick target acquisition. Because the dot is projected onto a lens and appears to float at the target's distance, the shooter's eye does not need to focus on a separate aiming point, which can be faster than traditional iron sights.

These sights are often used on handguns, rifles, and shotguns for applications such as competition shooting, hunting, and tactical use. The red dot is typically illuminated by a small LED, and the brightness can usually be adjusted to suit different lighting conditions, from bright daylight to low light environments. Many modern red dot sights are parallax-free, meaning that the point of impact will not shift if the shooter's eye position changes behind the sight. They are generally robust and designed to withstand recoil. Power is typically supplied by small, common batteries.
