Punapistetähtäimiä, also known as red dot sights, are non-magnifying optical sights used primarily for aiming firearms. They project a bright red dot or a small reticle onto a lens, which the shooter sees superimposed over the target. The advantage of a red dot sight is that it allows for very quick target acquisition. Because the dot is projected onto a lens and appears to float at the target's distance, the shooter's eye does not need to focus on a separate aiming point, which can be faster than traditional iron sights.
