Pumpöverhettning

Pumpöverhettning is a method of heating buildings, primarily used in Scandinavian countries. It involves the use of warm water or hot coolant from a district heating system to heat buildings. This system relies on a secondary loop, separate from the primary water heating loop, to distribute heat to consumers.

The primary loop, typically comprising a larger pipe diameter, carries the high-temperature water from the power plant or heat generation facility. The secondary loop, featuring a smaller pipe diameter, transports the circulated coolant to a heating device, such as a heat exchanger or radiator, within the building. This setup enables the transfer of heat from the primary to the secondary loop, where it is absorbed by the building's heating system.

Pumpöverhettning is often implemented in conjunction with other district heating systems. By utilizing a separate loop for secondary heat distribution, the method allows for more efficient and controllable heating processes. This approach also enables the effective use of excess thermal energy from combined heat and power plants.

In regions experiencing low outdoor temperatures and limited natural insulation, pumpöverhettning is particularly beneficial.
