Puheenvuoron
Puheenvuoron is the genitive form of the Finnish noun puheenvuoro, meaning a turn to speak in a discussion or a spoken contribution. The word is formed from puhe (“speech”) and vuoro (“turn”), with the genitive -n ending used to indicate possession or relation, as in puheenvuoron sisältö (“the content of the speaking turn”) or puheenvuoron pituus (“the length of the speaking turn”). In Finnish, puheenvuoro can refer both to the moment when a participant is granted the floor and to the remarks made during that moment. In formal settings such as parliamentary procedure and other organized debates, expressions like pyytää puheenvuoroa (to request the floor) or ottaa/pitää puheenvuoro (to take or give a speaking turn) are common, and the term is often used to denote the speaker’s contribution as a unit of discourse.
In contemporary media and public life, puheenvuoro is also used more broadly as a label for opinion
