Pubisalueella

Pubisalueella, or the pubic region, refers to the anterior part of the pelvis that lies over the pubic bones and the surrounding soft tissues. It encompasses the skin and subcutaneous tissues as well as the anterior abdominal wall in the area just above the groin. The region is a key anatomical landmark in clinical examination and surgery.

Anatomically, the area centers on the pubic bones and the pubic symphysis, with the pubic crest and pubic tubercle serving as palpable landmarks. Muscular attachments in this region include the lower fibers of the abdominal wall muscles, such as the rectus abdominis, external oblique, internal oblique, and transversus abdominis, which attach near the pubic area. The inguinal ligament extends from the anterior superior iliac spine to the pubic tubercle, marking the inferior border of the region. Nerve supply comes mainly from the iliohypogastric and ilioinguinal nerves (both carrying sensory and motor fibers in this area). Vascular supply includes branches of the external pudendal arteries, with contributions from the inferior epigastric vessels.

Clinical relevance: the pubis region is often assessed for tenderness or swelling in physical exams and serves as a familiar landmark in pelvic and groin surgeries. It is a common location involved in inguinal or direct hernias, osteitis pubis, and pubic fractures or stress injuries in athletes. Understanding this area aids in diagnosing pain patterns and planning appropriate management.
