Psycholinguists are researchers who study the psychological and neurobiological foundations of language. Researchers also study language disorders such as aphasia and dyslexia to link language behavior with neural systems.

Common methods combine experimental psychology with neuroscience. Behavioral measures such as reaction times and eye movements reveal processing constraints; neuroimaging and electrophysiology (ERP, MEG, fMRI) illuminate when and where language operations occur. Computational models and corpus analyses provide formal accounts of language comprehension and production.

Practically, psycholinguists are typically trained in linguistics, psychology, or cognitive science and work in universities, research institutes, or industry settings that involve language technology.
