Psiphon

Psiphon is a free, open-source platform for censorship circumvention. Developed by Psiphon Inc., it is designed to provide users with uncensored access to the internet. Psiphon works by creating a VPN-like tunnel, but it utilizes a combination of technologies including SSH, HTTP proxies, and its own custom obfuscation protocols to disguise its traffic. This makes it difficult for internet service providers or network administrators to detect and block Psiphon connections.

The platform operates a network of servers located in various countries around the world. When a user connects to Psiphon, their internet traffic is routed through one of these servers. This masks their IP address and allows them to appear as if they are browsing from the server's location, thereby bypassing geographic restrictions or censorship. Psiphon is available as a downloadable application for Windows, macOS, Android, and iOS devices, as well as a browser extension. The company states that Psiphon is not a privacy tool and should not be used for activities that require strong anonymity. Its primary purpose is to circumvent censorship and provide access to open information.
