It is not a standardized linguistic category, and its definition varies by context. In general, pseudoGreek refers to coinages or branding that seek to evoke classical or scientific prestige by adopting Greek-looking morphology or symbols.

Typical features include the use of Greek-looking prefixes and suffixes in neologisms that may not have authentic Greek roots, the insertion of Latinized Greek letters or diacritics in logos, and claimed etymologies that reduce to a Greek-seeming origin. The goal is often rhetorical: to signal authority, antiquity, or technicality even when the linguistic basis is debatable.

Contexts in which pseudoGreek matters include marketing, where products or services are named to connote quality or tradition; science communication or pseudo-scientific discourse, where terms borrow Greek morphology to appear rigorous; and sociolinguistic analysis, where researchers study how consumers and readers infer meaning from Greek-looking forms.
