Psarjan

Psarjan is a coastal town and municipality in the fictional nation of Lyran. It lies on the Psarjan Gulf along a regional highway, about 180 kilometers north of the capital. The town has a population of around 8,000 residents (2023 census) and serves as the administrative center of Psarjan District. The surrounding landscape combines low hills, scrubby coastal plains, and a natural harbor that supports a modest fishing fleet.

Historically, Psarjan began as a fishing village in the medieval era and rose to regional prominence as a market town in the early modern period. A 16th‑century fortress and a stone market hall survive as landmarks from that era. The town underwent modernization in the late 19th and 20th centuries, aided by road construction and railway access.

Economy centers on fishing and related processing, with small-scale agriculture and growing tourism. Local businesses include canneries, a fruit cooperative, and guesthouses along the waterfront. Psarjan is connected by a regional road network and a branch line to the capital’s rail system; a local bus network serves neighborhoods and nearby villages.
