Préhistóricas refers to the period of human history before the invention of writing. This vast span of time covers the development of early humans, from their origins as hominins to the emergence of complex societies. It is broadly divided into three main eras: the Paleolithic, Mesolithic, and Neolithic periods. The Paleolithic, or Old Stone Age, is characterized by the use of stone tools for hunting and gathering. During this time, humans lived in nomadic groups and developed early forms of art and symbolic thought. The Mesolithic, or Middle Stone Age, saw a refinement of tool technologies and adaptation to changing environments following the last Ice Age. The Neolithic, or New Stone Age, is marked by the development of agriculture, settled lifestyles, and the domestication of animals. This agricultural revolution led to significant population growth and the formation of villages and early civilizations. Knowledge of prehistoric times is derived from archaeological evidence, including fossil remains, stone artifacts, cave paintings, and early settlements. These findings allow scientists to reconstruct the lives, technologies, and cultures of our ancient ancestors.
