Prävalenzwerte, often simply referred to as prevalence, represent the proportion of a population that exhibits a specific characteristic or condition at a given point in time or over a specified period. This characteristic can be a disease, a symptom, a behavior, or any other attribute of interest. The calculation of prevalence involves dividing the number of individuals with the characteristic by the total number of individuals in the population. It is typically expressed as a percentage or a rate per a certain number of people, such as per 100,000.
There are two primary types of prevalence: point prevalence and period prevalence. Point prevalence measures the
