Protoopsis
Protoopsis is a genus of extinct ray-finned fish that lived during the Devonian period. These early bony fish are known from fossilized remains, primarily from the Gogo Formation in Western Australia, a Lagerstätte renowned for its exceptionally preserved vertebrate fossils. The genus Protoopsis contains at least one described species, Protoopsis gogoensis.
Fossil evidence suggests that Protoopsis possessed a streamlined body shape, indicating it was likely an active
The discovery and study of Protoopsis have contributed to our understanding of early vertebrate evolution, particularly
