Protodinástico

Protodinástico is a term used in Egyptology to refer to the period in ancient Egyptian history that immediately preceded the First Dynasty. This era, often referred to as Dynasty 0 or the late Naqada period, marks a significant transition from scattered, pre-literate communities to a unified state. The timeframe for the protodinástico period is generally considered to be between approximately 3200 and 3000 BCE.

Archaeological evidence from sites like Hierakonpolis and Abydos provides crucial insights into this formative phase. Excavations have revealed increasingly complex burial practices, the development of monumental architecture, and the emergence of early forms of writing and royal iconography. These developments suggest the consolidation of power in certain centers and the gradual unification of Upper and Lower Egypt.
