Combustion-based process heaters, such as fired heaters or boilers, use the burning of fuel to generate heat. This heat is then transferred to the process fluid through convection and radiation. Boilers, a specific type of process heater, are primarily used to generate steam, which is a versatile medium for heating and powering industrial machinery. Safety features are paramount in the design and operation of process heaters, including pressure relief valves, temperature monitoring systems, and flame detection devices to prevent over-pressurization, overheating, and hazardous conditions.
