Projektsioonitüübi refers to a method of representing three-dimensional objects on a two-dimensional surface. This concept is fundamental in various fields, including computer graphics, technical drawing, and cartography. The primary purpose of a projection is to convey the shape, size, and spatial relationships of an object despite the loss of depth information.

There are two main categories of projections: parallel and perspective. In parallel projections, lines that are parallel in three-dimensional space remain parallel in the two-dimensional representation. This category is further divided into orthographic and oblique projections. Orthographic projections are used when the direction of projection is perpendicular to the projection plane, often seen in architectural plans and engineering blueprints. Oblique projections, on the other hand, have projection lines that are not perpendicular to the projection plane, which can provide a more visually intuitive representation of depth, though with some distortion.

Perspective projections simulate how the human eye perceives the world. Objects that are farther away appear smaller, and parallel lines converge at vanishing points. This type of projection creates a more realistic and naturalistic image, commonly used in art, photography, and virtual reality environments. The choice of projection type depends heavily on the intended application and the desired visual outcome, balancing accuracy, clarity, and aesthetic appeal.
