Produktsiooni, commonly translated as production, is the process by which goods and services are created. In economics, it combines inputs such as land, labor, capital, and entrepreneurship to transform them into outputs. The relationship between inputs and output is often described by a production function, which specifies the maximum output that can be produced from a given set of inputs. Technological change and organizational arrangements influence this relationship.

Efficiency and productivity are central concepts in produktsioon. Efficiency measures how well resources are utilized, while productivity tracks output per unit of input. The marginal productivity of an input shows how much additional output is produced by one more unit of that input, holding others constant. Returns to scale describe how output changes when all inputs are increased. In the short run, some inputs may be fixed; in the long run, all inputs are variable.

Production can be organized in various ways, from manufacturing to services. Common production systems include job-shop, batch, mass, and continuous production. The choice depends on product characteristics, demand patterns, and technology. Environmental and social considerations—resource use, emissions, waste, and labor practices—influence production decisions, promoting efficiency and sustainability through automation and digitalization.
