Preposisjonale

Preposisjonale is a Norwegian adjective used to describe elements related to prepositions or prepositional phrases. In grammatical texts, the term appears as part of discussions about how language expresses relations of place, time, manner, or other aspects through prepositions.

A prepositional phrase typically consists of a preposition and its complement, usually a noun phrase. Examples in Norwegian include i huset (in the house), til skolen (to school), med glede (with joy). The exact form of the complement can vary by language, but the core idea is a small unit built around a preposition that functions within a larger clause or noun phrase.

These prepositional phrases can serve different functions. They often act as adverbials, modifying verbs to indicate where, when, or how something happens, as in Vi møttes i parken (We met in the park). They can also serve as attributive modifiers, for example en bok med bilder (a book with pictures), where the phrase modifies a noun.
