Prasutagusss

Prasutagus was the king of the Iceni, a Celtic tribe who inhabited what is now Norfolk in eastern England. He is primarily known for his will, which was a significant factor in the events leading to the Boudican revolt in 60 or 61 AD.

In his will, Prasutagus attempted to secure his kingdom's independence and the safety of his family by naming the Roman Emperor Nero as co-heir alongside his two daughters. He hoped that by sharing his inheritance with Rome, his kingdom would be treated as an ally rather than a conquered territory. However, upon his death, the Roman authorities disregarded his will. They seized his kingdom, confiscated his lands, and, according to Roman historian Tacitus, flogged his wife Boudica and raped their daughters.

This mistreatment by the Romans provoked a fierce rebellion led by Boudica. The Iceni, joined by other tribes such as the Trinovantes, launched a devastating attack on Roman settlements, including Camulodunum (Colchester), Londinium (London), and Verulamium (St Albans). While the revolt was initially successful, inflicting heavy casualties and destruction, it was ultimately crushed by the Roman governor Gaius Suetonius Paulinus. The fate of Prasutagus's daughters after the revolt is unknown, though it is speculated they may have been taken to Rome.
