The name often appears as a placeholder in discussions of language reconstructions, sound change, and language-family development, where authors imagine an earlier form that could have given rise to later languages. In fictional contexts, Praome may function as the root tongue of a people or as an example used to illustrate how phonetic shifts and typological changes might propagate through a language tree.

Some users treat it as a purely abstract construct, focusing on conceptual relationships rather than concrete data.
