Potenciálás

Potenciálás is a term commonly used in Hungarian to describe the concept of exponentiation in mathematics. It refers to the operation of raising a number to a power. The number being multiplied is called the base, and the number of times the base is multiplied by itself is called the exponent. For example, in the expression 2^3, 2 is the base and 3 is the exponent. The result of this operation is 8, as 2 multiplied by itself three times (2 * 2 * 2) equals 8.

Potenciálás is a fundamental operation in algebra and is used in various fields of science and engineering. It is a shorthand for repeated multiplication, making it easier to express and calculate large numbers. The inverse operation of potenciálás is taking a root, such as a square root or a cube root. Special cases of potenciálás include raising a number to the power of 1, which results in the base itself, and raising a number to the power of 0, which results in 1 (except for 0^0, which is often considered an indeterminate form). Fractional exponents represent roots, for instance, x^(1/2) is the square root of x. Negative exponents indicate reciprocals, such as x^(-n) = 1 / x^n.
