Postojna

Postojna is a town and municipality in southwestern Slovenia, located in the traditional region of Inner Carniola and in the modern Littoral–Inner Carniola Statistical Region. It lies within the karst landscape and serves as a major gateway to the Karst region, with a history tied to trade and transportation routes.

The principal landmark in Postojna is Postojna Cave (Postojnska jama), one of the country’s most visited natural attractions. The cave system features extensive subterranean passages, impressive formations, and an underground railway that carries visitors through part of the cave. The site has drawn visitors for many generations and is a centerpiece of local tourism.

Nearby Predjama Castle is another prominent landmark.
