Postens is a term historically associated with the national postal operator in Sweden and, more broadly, with the Nordic postal and logistics system. In Sweden, the public postal operator was commonly referred to as Posten, with occasional references to the entity as Postens in possessive or descriptive contexts. In 2009, the Swedish postal service merged with Denmark’s Post Danmark to form PostNord, a cross‑Nordic postal and logistics group. Since then, the brand PostNord has been used for most consumer‑facing services, while Posten remains a reference point in historical or legal contexts.

PostNord operates mail and parcel delivery, logistics, and e-commerce services across Sweden, Denmark, and other Nordic markets. The network includes a system of post offices, parcel lockers, and retail partners, supporting both individual customers and businesses. In addition to standard letter and package delivery, the group provides express services, corporate logistics solutions, and international freight, aiming to integrate postal operations with broader supply chain services.

Historically, Posten AB functioned as the state postal operator in Sweden, evolving through regulatory changes and market reforms that culminated in the 2009 formation of the PostNord joint venture with Denmark. The organization remains largely government‑owned, administered as a joint venture between the Danish and Swedish governments, and operates under the regulatory framework governing postal and logistics services in the Nordic region.
