Portmore

Portmore is a municipality located in the parish of Saint Catherine, Jamaica. It is situated on the southern coast of the island, east of Kingston, the capital city. Portmore is Jamaica's largest and most populous urban area, often considered a suburb of Kingston. The municipality was developed as a planned residential area and has grown significantly since its inception.

The development of Portmore began in the late 1960s with the construction of the Causeway, a road connecting the mainland to the peninsula. This facilitated rapid residential growth.
