Porsena
Porsena, usually referred to as Lars Porsena of Clusium, is a figure in Roman legends described as the king of the Etruscan city of Clusium who led an army against Rome in an effort to restore Tarquin the Proud to the throne. The tale places the clash during the early years of the Roman Republic, around the late 6th or early 5th century BCE, and frames it as a dramatic contest between a foreign monarchial attempt to overturn Rome’s republican settlement and the young Roman resistance.
