Pooljuhidepõhiste

"Pooljuhidepõhiste" is an Estonian term that translates to "semiconductor-based" in English. It refers to materials and technologies that utilize semiconductors, which are substances with electrical conductivity between that of a conductor and an insulator. This unique property allows semiconductors to be manipulated to control the flow of electricity, making them fundamental to modern electronics.

The most common semiconductor materials are silicon and germanium. By introducing impurities, a process called doping, the conductivity of these materials can be precisely altered to create either n-type semiconductors (with an excess of electrons) or p-type semiconductors (with a deficiency of electrons, or "holes"). The interaction between these n-type and p-type materials forms the basis of essential electronic components like diodes and transistors.
