Polymeercopolymeren, often shortened to copolymers, are polymers formed from two or more different types of monomer units. In contrast to homopolymers, which consist of only one repeating monomer, copolymers derive their unique properties from the combination of these different monomer segments. The arrangement of these monomer units along the polymer chain can vary significantly, leading to distinct copolymer architectures and consequently, different material characteristics.

Common arrangements include alternating copolymers, where the different monomer units appear in a regular, alternating pattern.
