Polyja

Polyja refers to a romantic or sexual relationship involving three people. It is a form of polyamory, which is the practice of engaging in multiple romantic relationships with the consent of all the people involved. In a polyja dynamic, all three individuals are romantically and/or sexually involved with each other. This is distinct from other forms of non-monogamy where relationships might be hierarchical or involve only two people at a time.

The term "polyja" is a portmanteau, combining "poly" (from polyamory) and "ja" (from triad). A triad is a group of three people in a romantic relationship. While the term "triad" can sometimes be used more broadly to describe any relationship of three, "polyja" specifically denotes a polyamorous triad where all members are in a relationship with each other.

Relationships within a polyja dynamic can take many forms. Some polyja relationships might be entirely egalitarian, with all three individuals sharing equal romantic and sexual connections. In other cases, there might be a primary couple with a third person entering the relationship, or the dynamics might evolve over time.
